We are currently seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to support the delivery of maintenance and refurbishment works across a major infrastructure maintenance framework operating throughout the North West.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term programme of works maintaining critical assets including pumping stations, flood defence systems and associated mechanical equipment.

The Role

Working across various sites throughout the region, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding and refurbishment activities on a wide range of mechanical assets.

Key Responsibilities
Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
Mechanical fault finding and diagnosis
Installation, removal and refurbishment of mechanical equipment
Maintenance of pumps, gearboxes, valves, actuators, sluice gates and penstocks
Mechanical alignment and commissioning activities
Working from engineering drawings and technical specifications
Completing maintenance records, inspection reports and site documentation
Identifying defects and recommending remedial works
Supporting lifting operations where required
Ensuring compliance with RAMS, permits and safe systems of work
Participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota when required

Essential Requirements
NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent
CSCS Card or relevant industry card
Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within industrial environments
Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable
Water or wastewater industry experience
Pumping station experience
Confined Space Training
Lifting & Slinging certification
MEWP / PASMA
First Aid qualification
Experience working on pumps, rotating equipment, valves and gearboxes
Suitable Backgrounds
