Java Developer

• Up to £700/day Umbrella

Senior Java Developer

• Up to £750/day Umbrella

Lead Java Developer

• Candidate rate: Up to £780/day Umbrella

Overview

We’re supporting a major public sector digital transformation programme and are looking for Java Developers, Senior Java Developers and Lead Java Developers to join Agile delivery teams building and supporting large-scale citizen-facing services.

Successful candidates will work across the full software development lifecycle, helping to deliver resilient, scalable and secure digital products used by millions of users.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java applications and microservices
• Transform business requirements into production-ready solutions
• Build secure, scalable and resilient services
• Develop reusable components, libraries and shared services
• Produce automated unit and integration tests
• Support live services and contribute to operational stability
• Collaborate with Architects, Engineers and delivery teams
• Produce and maintain technical documentation
• Contribute to engineering best practices and continuous improvement
• Provide coaching and mentoring to other engineers (Senior/Lead roles)

Requirements

• Strong commercial Java development experience
• Experience with Spring Boot
• AWS experience
• Kafka experience
• MongoDB experience

• Strong understanding of automated testing
• Agile delivery experience

• Technical leadership within Agile teams
• Mentoring and supporting junior engineers
• Contributing to technical design decisions
• Promoting engineering standards and best practices
• Ability to quickly contribute within established delivery teams
