Morson Edge is looking for Skilled Aircraft Fitters to join a busy aerospace manufacturing programme based in Burnley.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced aircraft fitters to secure ongoing contract work within a high-performing aerospace environment, working on the precision assembly of aircraft nacelle structures and components.

You’ll be joining an established production team where quality, craftsmanship and attention to detail matter, with overtime opportunities and additional travel and accommodation assistance available for candidates travelling from further afield.

If you live 39 miles or more from the Burnley site, you can claim up to £200 per week in expenses towards eligible travel and accommodation costs.

The current travel assistance policy is due to be reviewed on 1 February 2027.

The Role

As a Skilled Aircraft Fitter, you’ll assemble and fit nacelle components and sub-assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, technical instructions and aerospace quality requirements.

You’ll undertake a range of precision fitting and fastening activities, ensuring components are produced safely, accurately and right first time.

Key Responsibilities

• Fit and assemble aircraft nacelle components and sub-assemblies
• Carry out drilling, countersinking, riveting, fastening and torquing
• Work accurately from engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Safely handle and position components onto tooling and workstations
• Complete self-inspection activities and maintain required quality standards
• Record component and material traceability through production documentation
• Identify and report non-conformances during assembly
• Ensure tooling, fixtures and materials are correct and within validity
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S
• Work in accordance with HSE and aerospace quality procedures
• Support continuous improvement across the production environment

Skills & Experience

We’re interested in hearing from experienced aircraft fitters with:

• A time-served aerospace or engineering apprenticeship, City & Guilds or equivalent
• Strong aircraft fitting and assembly experience
• Experience with drilling, riveting and aerospace fastening techniques
• Ability to confidently interpret engineering drawings
• Experience using hand tools and measurement equipment
• Knowledge of aerospace quality and HSE requirements
• Strong attention to detail and precision workmanship
• The ability to work effectively both independently and within a production team

Knowledge of composite materials and assembly processes would be beneficial, while previous self-inspection approval is desirable.

• Umbrella Rate: £26.19 per hour
• PAYE Rate: £19.70 per hour
• Overtime: Available
