Architectural Technician/ Technologist

An small and established architectural practice is seeking an experienced Architectural Technician / Technologist to join its growing Newport studio. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically focused professional with a strong background in residential and housing projects who is confident producing high-quality technical information and working collaboratively within a design team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of a variety of residential developments, producing detailed construction information, ensuring compliance with UK Building Regulations, and supporting projects through the technical stages of design.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed architectural drawings and construction packages using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Produce technical detailing and working drawings for residential and housing developments.
• Support projects through RIBA Stages 3–5, ensuring designs are technically robust and buildable.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants and contractors throughout the design and construction process.
• Ensure all work complies with current UK Building Regulations and relevant technical standards.
• Resolve technical design issues and respond to site queries where required.
• Assist in maintaining project programmes and meeting key deadlines.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of technical standards and drawing quality within the practice.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience working as an Architectural Technician or Architectural Technologist within a UK architectural practice.
• Strong residential and housing sector experience.
• Excellent proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Thorough understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction detailing.
• Ability to produce accurate, coordinated technical drawing packages.
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills and experience liaising with clients, consultants and contractors.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a collaborative team environment.

Desirable Skills

• CIAT accreditation or working towards MCIAT.
• Experience with planning, building regulations and construction phases.
• Knowledge of BIM workflows and coordination.
• Site inspection and contract administration experience.
